Description

Ladder 1 venting the roof at a working fire in a 2.5 story wood frame in Paterson NJ. They were then ordered off the roof by the Safety Officer as they finished venting and heavy fire and heat blew through the vent hole they just cut. Safety saw the exterior wall above the 2nd floor center window starting to burn through, hence the order to come on down. The fire you see near the eves is actually some of the discarded roofing material from the hole that slid down into the gutter and was burning. Eventually fire does burn through the 2nd floor bedroom exterior wall. Text book work by both firefighter's and the Safety Officer.
